Hoopy Frood

Musically, Hoopy Frood is the result of a range of influences. It is not for the makers to decide on the style they simply serve the music and it makes itself, so they can only quote “Pink Floyd crossed with Shpongle”, “kind of like trippy folk music”, “a unique multidimensional blend of psychedelic-folk and groovy-electro” and their favorite quote “we suspect the work of hippies”.

I am not sure how to categorize this music.  First, it is extremely good.  Melodic, killer vocals, and telling a story as the album progresses.  You could call this prog music, psychedelic music, electronics, jazz and any number of genres. 

The cd I am referring to is called “Indigo”.  In my opinion this is truly impressive music.  At times it smacks of Babe Ruth which is another of my favorite bands.  the music is ambient, rock, chill, and psychedelic all in the same song. Utilizing instruments such as the “oil-can guitars” and a “Cahon” that produce extraordinary special effects, this band is not mired in tradition in any fashion.

Its the music that when you are working and listening to your collection and you look up to see just “who that is”, its Hoopy Frood.  In their own way, they are every bit as good as the Floyd.  Truly enjoyable.
